Follow these simple steps to apply for the Kapi'olani Community College's TRiO 2024 Summer Bridge.
STEP 1: APPLY FOR THE TRIO PROGRAM
Complete and submit your application and supporting documents to the TRiO Office. Our application can be found below. (Note: All Summer Bridge applicants must apply for and be accepted to the TRiO Program. There is no separate Summer Bridge Application). Send your application to fhokama@hawaii.edu via UH FileDrop.
STEP 2: MEET WITH YOUR TRIO COUNSELOR
Once your application has been accepted, you will need to complete an intake interview with your TRiO counselor. At this point you can inform your counselor that you are interested in the Summer Bridge Program.
STEP 3: SUMMER BRIDGE INTERVIEW
Following your intake interview, if you are interested in participating in the Summer Bridge Program you will be contacted by the Summer Bridge Coordinator to complete a second interview, your Summer Bridge Interview.
STEP 4: NOTIFICATION
That's it! We will let you know after all the interviews have been completed if you have been accepted into our upcoming Summer Bridge.
2024 Summer Bridge Details
Dates:
June 3rd - July 26th; Monday-Thursday; 11:00am - 12:15pm
Format:
IN-PERSON: Everyday, at Kapi'olani Comm
Excursions:
Excursions are scheduled for Fridays from 11am-12:15pm. All excursions are held in-person. Most will be held at the Kapi'olani Community College campus with the exception of one. For this off-campus excursion we will offer transportation from the KapCC campus to our destination and back to the KapCC campus at the end of the excursion. Using the school transportation will be optional. ALL excursions are voluntary participation but highly encouraged. Excursions are designed to be fun and provide team building experiences.
Classes Offered:
We will be offering ENGLISH 100 & ENGLISH 100S. (ENG100S is a companion course to ENG 100 and must be taken by all participants even if they tested out of ENG100S)
Materials Needed:
All students will need access to stable WiFi, a reliable computer, and have basic knowledge of computer skills.
TRiO will lend out laptops for the duration of the Summer Bridge to any students that need them, free WiFi can be accessed from anywhere on our school campus, and any students needing help with basic computer skills can meet with our office staff to receive training prior to the start of Summer Bridge. Support can also be accessed throughout the duration of Summer Bridge.
