About the TRiO Program

The Kapi'olani Community College TRiO program is a federally funded program designed to assist disadvantaged students in their academic trajectory toward graduation at Kapi'olani Community College and in the optional pursuit of advanced degrees. Our program serves low income, first-generation college students, and/or students with a documented disability. TRiO assists students to graduate and/or graduate and transfer to a baccalaureate educational institution.

What does TRiO have to offer?

Tutoring & Mentoring Services

Meet with our Student Leaders in a one-on-one or group setting to receive academic tutoring or mentoring in various areas such as personal statement writing, scholarship application support, and time management.

Transfer & Graduation Support

Transferring and graduation can be an overwhelming process. We can help you through both processes and help you find support at your 4-year university.

Campus Tours

Ready to move on to a 4-year university? We can take you on a guided tour to learn all about your new campus before you ever start taking classes. Meet your advisor, plan your next steps, and even sit in on a class.

Support Workshops

Being successful in school means so much more then just getting good grades. Each semester we offer a variety of workshops designed to support students. Just a few of the topics covered are FAFSA, Scholarships, Financial Literacy, & Time Management.

Cultural Events

Deepen your college experience by immersing yourself into the community and the culture of Hawaii. Cultural events provide learning opportunities through hands-on experiences.

FREE Summer Bridge Classes

Summer Bridge is offered every summer and is free to all attendees. Students who participate in Summer Bridge must first be accepted into the KapCC TRiO Program.
